What is Capital Essentials?

Capital Essentials (formerly VeSys) is a suite of wiring and harness design software tools to satisfy the demanding requirements of companies where ease-of-use and value are as important as functionality.

Electrical Design & Verification

Intuitive

Full electrical design authoring is made easy via an intuitive user interface and electrically intelligent symbols. Built-in electrical intelligence automates many design tasks. For example, splices are automatically created when wires are joined and cross-references are automatically created when wires cross between sheets.

Furthermore, all entities have context sensitive menus giving the user the modification options appropriate for each different type of component. These and many other facilities make circuit editing a quick and simple.

Productive

Capital Essentials automatically generates reports for wires, connectors and devices used in the design. Diagram index-tables, device and wire index-tables with full sheet and zone referencing can be added to the drawings and these are updated automatically as changes are made.

Capital Essentials interfaces with most major MCAD systems allowing accurate wire length information to be defined by the MCAD system.

Capital Essentials is simple to use, ships with a detailed video tutorial and requires minimal training allowing companies to become productive quickly. Experienced support staff and an active user community forum provide immediate support and answers to new and experienced users alike.

Powerful

Built-in simulation helps designers to check and validate the design, as it is created, helping to find errors fast and early in the design phase. Simulation shows voltages and currents, highlighting problem areas such as short circuits and validating wire and fuse sizing.

Designs can be split into multiple sheets with automated cross-referencing and hyperlinks, helping users navigate the design. Diagram appearance – line weights, fonts, colors, symbols, borders, etc is fully customizable.

Libraries are provided for components, symbols and analysis models and these can be shared and exchanged with other companies.

Scalable

Capital Essentials shares a common software architecture with the Capital electrical and wire harness design suite. While VeSys is optimized for rapid deployment and a small IT footprint, Capital is designed for larger enterprises.

A Capital Essentials installation upgrades readily to Capital with risk free native data migration. Capital encompasses solutions for physical architecture optimization, systems design, systems integration and wiring design, electrical simulation and analysis, harness engineering, harness costing and documentation generation. Moreover, Capital Essentials and Capital are able to share common component, symbol and simulation model libraries.

Harness Design

Intuitive

Capital Essentials Harness provides a graphical environment for creating harness and formboard drawings. Harness design authoring is made easy via an intuitive user interface. Built-in harness-engineering intelligence automates many design tasks. For example, connector table are automatically populated as wires are added, terminals are automatically selected and wire tables generated automatically . Furthermore, all entities have context sensitive menus giving the user the modification options appropriate for each different type of component. These and many other facilities make harness design a simple and quick task.

Powerful

Capital Essentials Harness includes a powerful automated parts selector that automatically configures and selects terminals, seals, and wires for each connector, including allowances for add-ons and knock-offs, speeding design and eliminating a major source of problems found in the traditional design process.

  • Details including wire lengths and manufacturing reports are available instantly for viewing. New harness design data is validated prior to automatically generating the manufacturing documentation. The result is unsurpassed accuracy and productivity in harness design.
  • Diagram appearance–line weights, fonts, colors, symbols, borders, etc.–are fully customizable.
  • Libraries are provided for components and symbols and these can be shared and exchanged with other companies

Capital Essentials Harness designs can be linked with VeSys Design diagrams, enabling wires, connectors and splices from the circuit to automatically populate the harness layout. Harness information such as wire lengths can be back annotated to the circuit diagram, further refining the electrical simulation accuracy.

Productive

Once a harness is complete, the powerful Capital Essentials Harness reporting capabilities can be used to generate the documentation required for manufacturing. Because the reports are automatically generated directly from the design drawing, fast and accurate information is assured, significantly reducing production lead times and preventing manufacturing errors.

Future Proof

Capital Essentials is optimized for rapid deployment, with a small IT footprint, allowing companies to rapidly adopt an improved design process. Capital Essentials is also designed to support companies as they grow their business – Capital Essentials parts and symbols libraries are fully compatible with the powerful Capital electrical design system used by many large multi-site companies and Capital Essentials harness designs can be used directly by customers and suppliers using Capital or tools supporting DSI. Capital Essentials users can implement a mixed Capital Essentials and Capital environment across multiple sites, all sharing the same library data, allowing companies to upgrade their Capital Essentials installations to Capital as their business needs expand.

“Our company made the decision to start with Capital Essentials with a plan to upgrade to Capital as our design organization grows.  Because Capital Essentials data is compatible with Capital, it allows our company to operate with a mixed Capital Essentials and Capital environment until we are ready.”

Symbol Libraries
Our Symbol Libraries for your selected connectors and terminals are created from the manufacturer’s drawings to insure accuracy. A library of industry standard electrical and drafting symbols is also provided. Sample Border Symbol templates with property value placeholders are provided to automate the addition of project, design, and diagram specific information.
Component Library
Based on your requirements, we will provide a QuickStart custom library of component parts (i.e. wires, connectors, terminals, boots, insulation, clips, etc.) that can be used in designs created in Capital® and VeSys® design tools. The library will contain the wire and multicore cable that you specify. Connectors are configured to include typically used mandatory and optional “Housing” parts such as terminals, cavity plugs, boots, seals, and mounting hardware. Cavity names, cavity attributes and mating information is also provided. The following library design features and default specifications are used.

A QuickStart custom library of 100 existing connectors of your choice (together with some bonus content) which is usually a good start for a new customer and includes the time to select, package, test, transmit to you.   You can easily “grow” the library yourself from there with proper training.

Oasis maintains 3 master libraries.

  • Metric UOM – Automotive
  • Imperial UOM – Automotive
  • Imperial UOM – Mil-Aero

As of 1/1/2021 there are over 13,000 components in these libraries.
